Loamfield
Loamfield measures soil carbon in the field at a cost that works for smallholder projects, rather than modelling it from a satellite and hoping.

What we saw in Loamfield.
Soil carbon credits have a credibility problem, and the honest fix is measurement. The obstacle has always been cost per hectare.
Wanjiru is a soil scientist who built a sampling protocol and a cheaper instrument to go with it. The science was peer reviewed before we invested, which made our diligence unusually pleasant.
We co-led the seed with a climate specialist fund. The market for credits has been volatile since. Demand for defensible measurement has not.
